Dementia support – Benson

Melanie has been visiting my husband, who has dementia, for nearly two years now, as a companion/carer. Initially to keep him company when I went out for a morning once a week, she now visits several times a week, which he enjoys very much.

Melanie is unfailingly cheerful and is able to get a positive response from David even when he is negative mood. She is very caring, but at the same time is firm when necessary and I have no qualms about leaving her with David when I go out.

In recent months it has sometimes become necessary for Melanie to help him get dressed, in addition to her normal activities such as making drinks and meals, keeping him company by reading the paper with him, and taking him for walks in the park.

Melanie is more than happy to carry out light housework, and in fact does not like to sit and do nothing. When she is here she takes a lot of pressure off me and nothing is too much trouble for her.

I can therefore recommend her to you without reservation.
